Simple tool to make your Bifold door Install easier!!
At SHI Designs LLC, we are a newer start-up company with over 30 years of experience in the residential construction business along with experience in commercial and residential door installation.. i have come up with an idea to try and help make the residential bifold door installation a flawless process with the use of my pivot tool invention. The simple design and use of the pivot tool will help door installers and DIY homeowners install their bifold doors with greater success and satisfaction!
How the Pivot Tool Works
The Pivot Tool has a simple to use design that only requires the use of a Hammer.
Gather Parts
Gather the door pivots you will be using to install in the top of your new Bifold door. This could also be used to repair existing bifold doors after removing the broken or worn hardware.
Prep the top of door
You can use the Pivot Tool to scrap away any excess material that is sometimes left behind when the door manufacturer drills the holes for the pivots.
Insert the pivot
Insert the hardware wheel or pivot into the hole and slide the Pivot Tool into place over the pivot guide.
Drive the Pivot
While holding the Pivot Tool in one hand, strike the top of the Pivot Tool with a hammer to drive the pivot into the top of the door. After a few firm hits, the pivot should be set securely in the door.
Inspect install
Ensure the pivot guide travels freely after it has been driven into the door with the Pivot Tool.
Other uses
The Pivot Tool can also be used to drive in the bottom adjustable screw pivot. This Pivot rarely breaks because it has a threaded sleeve with a screw type stem. Simply unscrew the stem enough to insert the Pivot Tool and install using same technique used on the top spring loaded pivots.
